Homebuyer Education Workshops
Join us for our full-day, in-person workshop, which covers everything you need to know about purchasing a home, from credit to closing. The free workshop features presentations from a homeownership counselor, loan officer, real estate agent, home inspector, and insurance rep.
Learn:
- How your credit score affects your mortgage rate.
- The various loan options available to borrowers.
- How to plan for a down payment and closing costs.
- How to shop for a home.
- The types of insurance all homeowners need.
- How to maintain your home after purchase and avoid foreclosure.
By completing this workshop and meeting one-on-one with a homeownership counselor, you'll earn a Homebuyer Education Certificate valid for one year.
Upcoming Workshops
Are you thinking about buying a home? Come to this class, presented by NeighborWorks Western Pennsylvania, the Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh (BCAP), and South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM).
Learn what you need to do to buy a house with the help of community members including Sancha Rai, of Realty One Group, and Upendra Dahal, of Allstate Insurance Company. Teachers will speak in English with BCAP members providing limited Nepali interpretation.
PLEASE NOTE: The class happens in two parts: one part on October 12 and one part on October 19. When you sign up, choose either the morning or afternoon session on each day. You get a Homebuyer Ready Certificate when you attend both days.
